Abstract

      The objectives of this thesis were: 1) to study the principles of the four bases of social solidarity (Savgahavatthu) as the working principles for the educational officers, 2) to study the problems of the educational offers at Pariyattidhamma Schools in Suwannaphum District,      Roi-et province, 3) to study the implement of the principles of Savgahavatthu as the principles for working for the educational officers at Pariyattidhamma Schools in Suwannaphum District. Roi-et province,. However, this thesis was conducted based on mixed method research methodology: quantitative research and qualitative research. In-Depth Interview was mostly applied in this study in collecting the data from directors, teachers, and educational officer at schools of the 3 schools namely: 1) Suwannaphumpittayakom School, 2) Thongsrimuengvittaya School, 3) Watklangpunyakom School, and 4) Suthepnakhonvit School. The total sample for this study was 72 people (monastic members and lay peoples). The research instruments applied in this study were: questionnaire, Statistics Package for the Social Science (SPSS), and had reliability at 0.97. Furthermore, the statistics used in this study were: Frequency, Percentage, and Standard Deviation (S.D.).

                 The result of the study found that Savgahavatthu had different definitions and also significant important doctrine in Theravada Buddhism, such as it was the bases of social solidarity, bases of sympathy, acts of doing favours, principles of service, virtues making for group integration and enhance peaceful society.

                 Nevertheless, the general problems regarding the matter of Pariyattidhamma Schools in Suwannaphum District Roi-et province,were: the lack of experienced teachers, lacking of teaching materials and supports, most of the students came from poor family and some were aggressive, and not interested in studies. Furthermore, as the Pariyattidhamma Schools placed Buddhist religious activities at primary objective; therefore, it was very limited space for students to learn general education effectively. All these factors brought direct effects to the students learning process.

                 The implement of the four Savgahavatthu as the principle in working of the educational officers at Pariyattidhamma Schools, in Suwannaphum district, Roi-et province, overall and specific fields resulted in the high scale. However, when it was carefully examined in the specific field, the result was in high scale in all four aspects categorizing from the largest to the smallest thus: Samanattata  ( even and equal treatment)  = 3.70,  Piyavaca  (kindly speech)  

 = 3.69, Atthacariya  (useful conduct)  = 3.65, Dana (giving or generosity)  = 3.59. Nevertheless, the analysis data from in-depth interview regarding the implement of the principles for social sodality as the principles for working concluded that being opened mind, delivered nice speech, kind heart, and really to help other.

                 Last but not least, regarding the implement of the four principles for social sodality of the educational officers, it was very necessary for them to help each in doing works and services, spoke nicely with the people, be sincerely, no any expectation of doing service works, and aim at total quality for the benefit of the many.
